Frequently Asked Questions

A pyramidal microwave absorber is a carbon-loaded polyurethane foam material designed to absorb RF and microwave energy. It is commonly used inside anechoic chambers to reduce reflections and improve measurement accuracy.

They absorb electromagnetic waves and prevent reflections inside the chamber. This creates a controlled environment required for accurate antenna and EMC testing.

Typical pyramidal microwave absorbers support a very wide frequency range from tens of MHz to over 100 GHz depending on the absorber design and height.

Most pyramidal absorbers are made from carbon-impregnated polyurethane foam. This material converts electromagnetic energy into heat and reduces RF reflections.

Industries such as aerospace, defense, telecommunications, automotive, and research laboratories commonly use them for RF and EMC testing.

The pyramid shape provides a gradual impedance transition that allows RF waves to enter the absorber and dissipate as heat. This minimizes reflection back into the chamber.

They are used in anechoic chambers for antenna measurements, EMC testing, radar cross-section testing, and wireless device validation.

Yes, many high-quality absorbers are manufactured with fire-retardant materials and comply with standards such as UL94 or NRL-8093.

High-performance absorbers can achieve reflectivity levels as low as −50 dB depending on frequency and absorber height.

DMCRF absorbers provide broadband RF absorption, high power handling, and reliable performance for EMC and antenna testing chambers. They are designed to deliver accurate RF measurement environments.
